Scenario #1

Chipped teeth

First aid for chipped tooth:

  1. Calm the patient down
  2. Wash the blood away with plenty of water
  3. Put a cold compress on bleeding soft tissue eg lips, gums or tongue
  4. Find all the part of the chipped tooth and store fragments in water or milk
  5. See a dentist immediately

Scenario #2

Knocked out tooth

First aid for chipped tooth:

  1. Pick up the tooth by the crown NOT the root
  2. If dirty gently rinse the tooth with water. Don’t use chemicals or detergents
  3. Reposition the tooth in the socket, gently push it in with your fingers. Hold the tooth in place by gently biting on it.
  4. If you can’t reposition the tooth then keep it moist
  5. See a dentist immediately

Scenario #3

Displaced teeth

First aid for displaced tooth:

  1. Calm the patient
  2. If dirty gently rinse the tooth with water.
  3. Put a cold compress on bleeding soft tissues
  4. See a dentist immediately
